On the day Timothy was born, his father,  Franklin Thomas Canter, was shot and killed by a neighbor.

Timothy has a half-sister and a half-brother by his father's first wife, Nina Leonard:  Alice Canter and Franklin Thomas Canter, Jr.  Timothy also has a half-brother by his mother, Frances Marie Brown Leonard.  Tony Wayne Leonard was born to his mother in her previous marriage.
